- In 2025, one award will be given:
- Community Impact: This award will recognize an individual, or group of individuals, who has contributed to improved nutritional health and/or food security, with a focus on strengthening disadvantaged communities.
Funding Information
- The prize will be worth $125,000 CAD comprising a $100,000 cash award for the use of the recipient and up to $25,000 for travel and accommodation of the recipient, administered by the Arrell Food Institute at the University of Guelph.
Criteria
- The criteria for awarding the Arrell Global Food Innovation Award is as follows:
- The individual or group being nominated will have made exceptionally significant and documented contributions at the community level in markedly improving nutrition, including access to, or distribution of food.
- The nomination package must clearly demonstrate alignment with their mission, which is to produce more healthy and nutritious food with less environmental impact and economic inequality, “more with less”.
- The nomination package should not be a proposal or a request for funding.
- Nominees must be able to attend the award ceremony and ancillary events.

For Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action
YOUTH IMPACT – BECAUSE YOU MATTER – For Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action is an initiative led by UNESCO in collaboration with Nestlé, powered by the Nestlé Youth Entrepreneurship Platform. It seeks to support young people to help their communities through climate action and environmental sustainability initiatives, by providing them with resources and skills necessary to implement their innovative projects.
To this end, 100 project leaders will be selected worldwide to receive:
🏆 Grant of USD 8,500 each, and
🎓 Training and one-to-one mentorship, throughout their project implementation.
